Socks!

I finished my first pair of socks for 2010!

Socks

Pattern: Van Dyke Socks from Socks from the Toe Up by Wendy Johnson
Yarn: Zitron Trekking XXL color 175
Needles: Knit Pics US size 0 (2.0mm)
Method: Magic Loop

In January, I told myself I would make 6 pairs of socks this year. I don't think that is going to happen. I'm pretty ambivalent when it comes to socks. I own a squillion sock pattern books and a metric ton of sock yarn. I am madly in love the idea of socks...just not the actual process of knitting them.

I like socks because:
  • As far a s projects go, they are pretty portable.
  • Turning a heel is just cool.
  • Handmade socks are a joy to wear.
  • It is kind of an ego boost when someone comments on your socks and you can say "I made them myself."
  • They are seamless.
I don't like socks  because:
  • It seems to take me forever to knit them...even worsted weight ones. And I really don't understand this because I have small feet (size 6 1/2. )
  • Ok, so that's the only thing I dislike about socks. For me they are not instant gratification projects. Despite this, I plan on casting on another pair this afternoon.
