More Socks

2 down, 4 to go.

JBIIIA

Specs:
Yarn: Lion Brand Magic Stripes in Jelly Bean
Pattern: Of my own devising (Ok, I just did Van Dyke without the pattern stitch.)
Needles: US size 0 (2.0mm)
10kH: 16.75 hours (only 9801.37 left to go)
Commentary: There's all kinds of wrong with these.
  • The fabric is bullet-proof. I guess that's to be expected when the ball label suggests a US size 4 (3.5mm) needle and you use US size 0 (2.0mm.)
  • I can never remember which way to do right leaning/left leaning M1s and I'm always too lazy to look it up, so there's some sloppy increasing on the toes and heels. (I did resolve the problem by heel #2.)
  • They are short because the ball band said there was 330 yards and I have no idea how much yardage I use when I make socks. Apparently not much because there is quite a bit of the ball left. (Hmmm, baby booties may be the next FO post.)

They will do for kicking around the house. In fact, I've been wearing them since the "photo shoot" this morning. Now I can add a little more to my Pros and Cons of Socks list as well.

New Pros:
  • I finished this pair pretty quickly, so Plain Vanilla Socks can be instant gratification projects.
  • Plain Vanilla Socks also work well for Knit Nite.
New Cons:
  • Unless you are adept at yoga, taking FO pics alone is difficult.
  • You have to remember to shave before FO pics.
I think more research is needed before I make a final decision.
