Extreme close up taken a nano-second later so I have no idea why the color variation is so wild:

I'm really glad I listened to my knit gut on this. As I neared the end of the ribbing I just knew I could not use a usual bind off. I hated the thought of tubular bind off (it takes a little more effort), but in the end it's worth it.
I say again, I am not a fearful knitter. Just a lazy one. (Ok, that was mainly for the knit missionary at Knit Nite.)
