If Knitters Ran the World...Or At Least the Knitting World

I've got a few more for the if-the-Government-wants-to-get-involved list.

  • I'll just take the grief for this, but just go ahead and use the metric system. Since we are all about democracy in the US, we should face facts: the majority of knitters in the world use the metric system. This means no more yd/meter on the labels and and end to US/English/MM needle sizes. Would this be a pain in the ass adjustment? Sure, but eventually we'd all be used to it. Heck, knitters of the US could be metric ambassadors to the rest of our countrymen.
  • Designers should be required by law to list the multiples of all pattern stitches they use. Makes it easier to add/delete stitches. (Some designers do this, some do not.)
  • Yarn labels should include blocking suggestions. We've got laundry instructions, why not the best method for blocking? When I research on the net, I get different opinions. I'd like to know what the manufacturer says.
